The Evans family who emigrated from England first established Evans Bacon Co. Ltd in 1921. Bringing with them age-old family recipes that are still proving popular today.
Over the years, Evans has changed hands. In 1970 Graeme and Margaret Norris purchased the business from Fred Whitely and Dorothy McMullen.
The famous Evans recipes changed hands once more. Initially, Evans Bacon Co. was a local butcher shop in the town of Gisborne, and then due to its success, it has grown year after year. Broadening its market up the East Coast and to neighbouring cities.
Evans reputation has spread throughout the North Island and many coming in from out of town always comment that we have the best of everything. We don't boast on people's opinions, though it's nice to hear them; rather we focus on the results, of bringing quality meat to all of our customers. No short cuts, just perfection!
